does anyone in the uk actually call a tie, like the one you wear with a business suit, a necktie?
I think it may be more of an americanism to call it a necktie? But I'd be interested in anyone in the UK's (or anywhere else for that matter) thoughts! Cheers!
I’ve never heard anyone in the UK call it a necktie.
I seem to remember there are a few other words that the Americans over-describe compared to the British but can’t recall exactly what they were.
The differences between the two languages are realy interesting.
Like the whole got/gotten, doughnut/donut, autumn/fall thing.
