Can you solve The Curious Riddle Of The Black-Tie Dinner Guest.............
A young man wants to impress his lady friend - it's their first date. He takes his lady friend to a fancy restaurant. It's inside a hotel. It's a totally cool restaurant.
As they enter the fancy restaurant, the Maitre'D abruptly says:
"I'm sorry, Sir! This restaurant is black-tie only! To be seated, a gentleman must be wearing a black tie! And you are not wearing a black tie!"
"Umm, can we be seated if I'm wearing a small bow-tie?"
"Yes" says the Maitre'D... "But it must be black!! If it's not black, we will not seat either of you! And you will not be able to have dinner here!!"
The young man says, "I'll be right back! Give me five minutes!!" he runs out to his car. He pulls out a dollar-bill and a can of shoe polish. He comes back in five minutes and runs to join his date. She smiles.
The Maitre'D says, "OK, ummm, we'll accept that. You may be seated.... right this way, please...."
How did the young man do it?? How did he get to eat dinner with his date??

Hey guys I have a black suit and I don't think I'm going to rent out a grey/silver tux, so what options are there to match? I've been thinking of wearing a silver bow tie? But I'm worried that it won't look good as i don't have a tux 
What do you think guys? Oh and will a black shirt look good with a silver bow tie + grey waistcoat or would a white one look better?
Oh and would it be good to just go black suit, black tie? Would it look matching with a silver dress?

hi, i'm going to a black tie may ball tonight and i'm not sure which dress to wear! i have a choice of three:
a slim full length cherry red halterneck gown which ties in a big bow behind my neck
a grecian style floatier full length black dress in a lighter fabric with spaghetti straps
a cream lace boned strapless one that's tight and finishes just above my knees with some ruching detail on the front (i'd wear this with tights)
which is most suitable for both this type of ball and this time of year? (i'm in the UK)
