Heya.

My school's having it's semiformal, the Snowball, next week. I just bought a velvet jacket which I plant to wear over an eggplant-colored button down shirt.

My girlfriend is wearing a predominantly purple (eggplant) colored dress with black lace and gold trim.

I was also planning on dying my hair purple, and spiking it. My hair is black and 2-3 inches.

My question is this: First, what pants can I wear with a velvet jacket? I have some black tuxedo pants, but the velvet is darker than those. Also, I have some black slacks, but they don't seem dressy enough. Any suggestions?

Also, should I wear a straight tie, and, if so, what color,
or a vest and bow tie, which are a set and colored predominantly black with violet snakey patterns on them?

i want to wear a tie to my friends housewarming party but idk if it will look right. ive never worn one beofre but heres what i was planning: a black blazer, with a purple button down, purple heels and skinny jeans. the tie is white and plain and i was gonna wear it loose... but idk if maybe a bow tie would look better, or if i should just drop the tie period. i really want to wear one for a diff. style what do you think ?
