Find black bow tie bargains online
This is something I've been wondering.
I have a wing collar tuxedo shirt, and a silk bow tie, I don't, however, have a tuxedo jacket, so I substitute it with a jacket that doesn't have satin trim on the lapels. It looks exactly like a dinner jacket only without satin-trimmed lapels. I was wondering if it is acceptable to wear this to a black tie event without being gawked at and taken for an idiot?
I've got a formal dance coming up, and I was wondering if I could wear a white dinner jacket. It is in december in seattle, and I know that this goes against the "memorial day and labor day" rule, but I have been hearing that this rule doen't apply as much anymore. Everyone else is going to be wearing black, so I thought white would be something a little different and fun. I don't mind breaking out of the mold or being ahead of the fashion, so would this be ok to wear. I'll be wearing black pants, black dress shoes, and a black shirt with cuff links. Debating on whether to wear a tie/bow or not...
I'm going to our school's Prom/Summer Ball tonight, and need some help! I'm 18, but I've never been to a formal black tie event before.I got a free scholarship to a private school when I was 11, but I've never bothered to go to any of the formal occasions, primarily due to cost, and subliminally probably because I guess I didn't want to look like a fool out of my depth...
But I just finished my last year here, so I was feeling slightly sentimental, and about a month ago a friend (now girlfriend) pretty much blackmailed me into getting a ticket and to ask her to go with me.
Now I'm panicking. I rented a tux/dinner jacket outfit;
My shirt has these 'pointed' collar ends; do these go over or behind the bow tie?
The shirt is also kind of...tentlike :/ I'm 6ft3 but have a slim build, and the shirt has massive width; any ideas how I can somehow keep it all stuffed tight around my back?
Do I do up the single button on my jacket?
Am I expected to bring anything for my date? (I'm meeting her at the golf club where it's being held)
What actually happens during one of these events? I know we're having a meal, but that's all.
Will I be expected to dance? nb. I have two left feet, and she dances at international level!
What is normal to do following the event? She's dropped many unsubtle hints at...nothing conclusive /sigh

I am off to a Xmas office party which is black tie. I usually go in my standard single breasted 2 button Dinner Jacket, white shirt and black bow-tie. I am thinking about going tonight with my normal Dinner Jacket, black shirt and a sky blue bow-tie and cummerbund. Will this look good?
I have black tuxedo pants, a white shirt, a black bow tie, and cufflinks, but I do not have a tuxedo jacket or a dinner jacket. I have a suit however, with a very dark navy blue blazer, which looks like black. Does the style of a suit blazer look good on a tuxedo, or will it look weird? Please help! thanks.
