Why do some lawyers where bow ties?
I understand a bow tie that is a part of a tuxedo lets say, small, black bow tie. Why do some lawyers and professors, grown man in a business and law and school world, wear those huge color bow ties, which sometimes have patterns and what not? Do they belong to a secret society?
Good answers, but one thing you did not take into consideration are the description I gave about a bow tie. Not a small sexy looking tuxedo bow tie, but a clown tie that can be visible 3 city blocks away? Is it attention craving, is it still such fasion, I am just curious. Any additions to your answers?
They are under the impression that they are stylish, trend setting, handsome, or some other bull like that.
The nerd gene hasn’t been bred out of them.
A bow tie doesn’t catch soup drops.
You don’t have to spend an hour trying to get the ends to match.
A bow tie can be put on in 5 seconds flat.
A bow tie can’t be grabbed by the client when you lose.
need more?
There was a time when bow ties were in fashion. Some men still like them. If they are clip-ons they are much easier to put on, and you don’t have the problem of getting them in your soup when you eat. Some men think they look better in bow ties, and some actually do.
It’s a matter of fashion taste, not of secret societies.

Maybe it looks more academic. Look at Orville Redenbocker.. professor of popcorn.
All I can add is that it’s purely personal taste. And yes, for attention, too.
